In Finland the President of the Republic is elected by a direct vote for a term of six years. If necessary, the presidential election may consist of two rounds. First Election Day is Sunday 28 January 2018. Possible second round of the election is on February 11, 2018.
Accreditation
Accreditation is necessary for all foreign media representatives wishing to cover the Finnish Presidential Election 2018 and to take part in the media events.

This accreditation covers also the possible second round of the election.
Media Programme for Presidential Election organized by MFA
Event: Election Night
Date: Sunday 28 January 2018
Time: From 5 pm till midnight
Venue: House of the Estates, Snellmanninkatu 9-11, Helsinki
The Press Room will offer simultaneous interpretation into English of the televised Election night programme broadcasted by Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE.
The Presidential Candidates will enter the House of Estates approx. at 8.20 pm. They will give short comments to the media during their entrance.
The unofficial results of the Election will be ready approx. at 10.00 pm. After that there will be a press conference by the (still unofficial) Winner or the two Candidates proceeding to the final round to be held on Feb 11, 2018. Simultaneous interpretation into English will be provided.

Venue: Communications Department of the MFA, Kanavakatu 3 C, Helsinki
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will organise a post-election analysis and discussion event led by senior political journalist, Mr. Marko Junkkari, representing Helsingin Sanomat, the biggest Newspaper in Finland.
